Desor began with a frustration. The home fragrance available in Lagos was either imported at a price that made it an occasion, or cheap enough that it smelled of it. Nothing was composed with a Nigerian home in mind.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. Our rooms are hotter and more humid than the ones most fragrances are formulated for. Windows stay open. Ceilings are often high. A blend that reads beautifully in a sealed European flat can turn thin and sharp by afternoon here, or vanish entirely.

So we started blending our own — small batches, tested in real rooms, in real humidity, over weeks rather than an afternoon. Every scent rests before it ships, because fragrance needs time to settle into itself. The ones that don't settle well, we don't sell. Study No. 4 is named for the three attempts before it that we threw away.

What we make

Eight fragrances, across reed diffusers, hand-poured candles, room sprays and refill oils. Coconut and soy wax, cotton wicks, no paraffin. Refills for everything, because sending you a whole new glass bottle every sixty days is wasteful and we would rather you didn't.

Where we are

Everything is blended, poured, labelled and packed in Lagos by a small team. When you send a message on WhatsApp, one of us reads it. When something goes wrong, one of us fixes it.

Still small

That is mostly deliberate. We would rather be the fragrance a few thousand homes reorder than the one a hundred thousand try once.
